Matthew’s Gospel, etc.
August 18th, 2007 by jbhoodAll,
Welcome to Deinde! This is J. B. (Jason) Hood writing. This is a test post to see if I can actually get this blogging thing to work out on Deinde. Thanks to DanZac’s kind invitation last year, I’ve been anticipating blogging here for quite some time. My previous blog, Gospel of Matthew reflects many of the themes I’ll be interested in tackling here. I look forward to blogging on Deinde with others as that takes a good bit of the pressure off to constantly post.
I’ve updated my profile. Briefly, I’m a Ph.D. candidate in NT, writing a dissertation on Matthew’s understanding of the OT in light of his genealogy of Jesus. Perhaps it sounds boring–but I’m having a blast with it all. In my dissertation I’m paying special attention to the function of genealogies in Matt’s world; “summaries of Israel’s story”; and the literary context of Matt’s gospel as a whole–its themes and goals, etc. My primary supervisor is Michael Bird, biblioblogger extraordinaire (I am not worthy to loose the straps on his sandals either in blogdom or in academia and scholarship). My secondary supervisor is I. Howard Marshall (ditto previous parenthetical). I am living in Memphis, TN, USA with my wife and kids, working part-time teaching, writing, consulting, etc. while cranking on a dissertation on occasion.

Jase,
Great to see you blogging again, esp. with a good partner in Danny Z.
