Nota Bene alternative on the PC

May 23rd, 2008 by Danny Zacharias

For those of you suffering on a PC and trying to figure out a good biblio/database manager, you may feel that the costly Nota Bene is your only option. No doubt Nota Bene is a pretty cool product (doesn’t compare to any of the Mac software i use, of course) but some of you may be interested in a PC alternative.

It is called Biblioscape, and for people in the education world, its only going to cost you $200. It fully integrates with Microsoft word, so you are not confined to its own word processor.

I’ve only read about the features of the program on its website, I’d be interested to hear from anyone who uses this in our neck of academia. Does it do footnotes well? Can it handle SBL formatting?

Of course, this should just be plan B for you. If you really want to take it to the next level, get a Mac! Get accordance! Get Bookends or Sente! Get Mellel! Get Devonthink pro! And then…… get rid of that PC!
