A Question posed: Will Vaticanus ever be digitized?
August 21st, 2008 by Danny ZachariasI’m privileged to be at an institution that has a replica of Codex Vaticanus. But with the relatively recent and wildly popular digitization of Sinaiticus, I’ve wondered when or if Vaticanus will ever come to the internet. I’m not aware of any such attempts, but please, if you are aware of plans, let me know in the comments. What a great internet resource that would be!

It has already been digitized. The facsimile has been created from it.
Paul Canart from the Vatican library once told me that if enough copies of the book have been sold a DVD will eventually come out.

I don’t know of any plans, but considering the high quality of the recent Vaticanus facsimile (our school owns one as well), I have to think that the digital images already exist.

On a somewhat different — but nevertheless related — note, don’t forget the excellent project undertaken by the Accordance folks.

Wieland, I think I posed my question wrong. I realize it is digitized — I was thinking more along the lines of the Sinaiticus project— online, free, and hi resolution for all the world to see. A DVD won’t do that…..
