Apologist vs. Apologists — the latest SBL forum

October 16th, 2008 by Danny Zacharias

Tony Chartrand-Burke has a new SBL article out which is an interesting read, though I’d disagree with most of it. His caricature of particular scholars as apologists (a denigrating term in his article) really made me wonder if he thinks more highly of himself. If an apologist is a defender, then Tony would qualify as a CA apologist. Nothing wrong with that, we need people to point out when we are misrepresenting something— but you are simply an apologist of a different sort, with different presuppositions that guide your research and argumentation.

For a great critique of Burke’s article, check out the Religious Researcher’s blog.
